[Read more...] Grand Final Review 2011- Part 2 The extension of the season saw 5 River teams contest Grand Finals over 3 days on the weekend 3 more premierships have been won bringing the club total to 7 for season 2011. Friday night saw the 18Bs run out at Seymour Shaw after a slow start worked their way back into the game however a 2-1 deficit ensured Dale the boys had to be content with a runners up medal this season not a bad effort for a team that was put together in March. Thanks to those supporters who turned out ensured a great atmosphere for the boys to play in. Saturday morning saw the all conquering 15A team retain their title with a 1-0 victory (in fact this is now a three peat) defeating arch nemesis Ridgebacks in doing so completing the double also going through the season undefeated. Dom Dean are to be congratulated for keeping this teams great run going in doing so increased our tally to 5. All roads led to Buckle on Sunday with River teams contesting 3 Grand Finals. The AL12 were first cab off the rank in what was a great game of football were extremely unfortunate to concede a penalty at the death to go down 3-2. Nevertheless this team performed well throughout the season gave the tear away minor premiers a huge scare. Following on was the AL11 team if ever there was a team which has peaked at the right end of the season this is it. 3 sudden death matches in a row, scoring 11 goals not conceding throughout the final series speaks for itself. A 1-0 victory was enough to secure the trophy from 3rd spot a brilliant effort from the lads in securing premiership number 6 for the club.
