Sydney FC have an upcoming player appearance at Westfield Miranda and an invitation is extended to the Georges River football club and all its members to come along and meet some Sydney FC stars.

Small Sided Games Survey
Football Federation Australia (FFA), Member Federations, Zones, Association and clubs commenced the national roll-out of small-sided games in 2008.
As the season comes to an end, FFA would like to get your feedback based on your observations of your child's participation in small-sided games this season.
Over the next few seasons, small-sided games will be progressively rolled out and your feedback will contribute to this process.

Season Extended by one week
Please note the season will be extended one extra week.
Round 5 Saturday will be replayed on Saturday 2 August (weekend after Round 18).
Round 11 Sunday will be replayed on Sunday 3 August (weekend after Round 18).
This will result in the final series being shifted by one week. The new dates for the final series will be:
Semi Finals 9 – 10 August
Finals 16 – 17 August
Grand Finals 23 – 24 August

This year all senior teams photos are being taken on the same day. We require all teams to be prompt and ready 10 minutes prior to their allocated time. Team photos are compulsory, thank you for your co-operation.

The Club will be holding a School Holidays Soccer Camp in conjuction with Football NSW at Oyster Bay Oval on 14 July to 17 July. It is open to all U7 - U12 players.

One more drink wins $1,200
Justin Henderson's decision to stay for one more drink certainly paid dividends as he won the badge draw jackpot at the Clubhouse on Sunday night 15 June worth $1,200. After saying goodbyes Justin from the AL7's decided to have one more drink and as a result this lucky decision meant he was on hand to win the badge draw jackpot.
Some in the crowd thought he had already left but a double check found him quietly sipping on an ale with team mates at the BBQ area. Justin was obviously very pleased to have landed the prize.

Georges River on TV
The recent visit of Sydney FC to Georges River was recorded by SBS TV to be included in their Football Stars of Tomorrow program and our club will be starring in this week's episode on Foxsports on Wednesday 21 May @ 4.30 pm and replayed on SBS on Sunday 25 May @ 3.00 pm.

Grassroots Coaching Course
Grassroots Football Certificate
This course is specifically designed by FFA for grassroots SSG coaches.
DATE: Monday, 26 May, 2008
TIME: 6:30PM – 9:30PM
VENUE: Harrie Denning Football Centre, Bates Drive, Kareela
We encourage all Roo Ball Coaches who have not yet done so to complete the Grassroots Certificate Course. It only goes for three (3) hours and provides plenty of practical information for new coaches along with a handbook full of drills and games specifically designed for young players.
Participants must be over 15 years of age.
Participants must wear training gear to the Course.

U12 Touring Team Information Night.
To be held on Sunday 4 May 2008 at 12noon
Georges River Clubhouse.
Parents & U12's Players to attend (You are still eligible to go, if you technically are playing in the U13's but should be in the U12's).
This is an non-obligation information session about our long standing tradition with our sister club
Bardon La Trobe QLD.
We host their U12's Touring Team in the last week of June
then the following year our U13's Touring Team travel to QLD for a week in July school holidays.
During both teams visit, we host our own mini State of Origin soccer games on Sunday, Tuesday & Thursday nights.
The teams spend a week being billeted by families and sightseeing & visiting tourist attractions.
You have the opportunity to fundraise for your child to go or you can pay, it's totally up to you.
It is an opportunity for your child to experience the Bardon Tour and have memories they will never forget !!!
Touring Team Trivia Night.
The Touring Team will be holding a Trivia Night at Jannali Community Hall on Sat 17 May 2008 at 7.00pm for a 7.30pm start.

The Head Coach and Head Manager will be running another Coaches and Managers Information night on Tuesday 29th April from 7:30pm in the clubhouse. This night is aimed at all non-SSG Coaches and Managers.
A separate session for SSG Coaches and Managers will be held on Monday 28th April.
If you have any specific issues that you would like the Head Coach or Head Manager to address on the night then please let them know by email asap. They would like to see most teams attending this information night if possible as many did not attend the first Coaches and Managers night on 12th March.

Player ID cards for Saturday teams will be available for collection via your team's drawer from Saturday morning. Sunday teams can collect their ID cards, along with their playng strip, on Sunday morning from the duty officer.

News from the Annual General Meeting 2008.
A well attended AGM on Wed 12 March 2008 saw the following
important news arise:
CLUB NAME: By a voting majority our Club Name will be changed to Georges River Football Club. Club President Brad Grogan
advised this matter will now be taken up with the Club Committee and a timetable developed to implement this change.
COMMITTEE 2008: Pleasingly the vast majority of positions have been filled however the very critical position of Club Secretary
and Property Manager are vacant. Anyone wishing to volunteer for these positions please contact Brad Grogan urgently.
A NEW LIFE MEMBER: Life membership was bestowed upon our Club President Brad Grogan at the AGM. Outgoing Secretary Mauro Gennari
with the support of the Club Committee nominated Brad for this honour. Mauro outlined Brad's contribution to the club as a player, coach
and long serving committee member. Many ground and facility improvements have occurred due to Brad's tireless efforts. The AGM attendees
voted overwhelmingly in favour of this nomination. A very pleasantly surprised Brad was most proud and humbled to have received
this honour. Congratulations Brad on becoming the newest life member of our grand Club.

Late Rego.
There is a late rego day on Tuesday 19 Feb 2008 6.30pm - 8.30pm at the clubhouse. Registrations will only be accepted if vacancies exist within teams.
This will be the last registration date to play the first round.
Further registration dates will be:
Tuesday 11 March 2008 6.30pm - 8.30pm at the clubhouse
Tuesday 8 April 2008 6.30pm - 7.15pm at the clubhouse
These are the ONLY dates on which late registrations will be accepted.
Gear Return.
There are many
teams that still have not returned their jersey kits or
coaching equipment. It is very important to return all equipment
ASAP to ensure a smooth start for 2008 season !!
